References for Project Practice

Use a reference for the question it can answer. Identify its jurisdiction, purpose, edition, and limits before relying on it.

Chirality source materials

The course series adapts these project principles: establish the basis, allocate work, define dependencies, examine results, control change, integrate, and transfer responsibility.

The human-team courses use human professional and organizational responsibilities. They do not import the manuals' agent hierarchy, repository commands, or fixed stage labels.

The Root thesis provides background on evidence, judgment, and professional reliance. Its architecture and regulatory interpretations are arguments to examine. They are not regulator determinations.

Professional practice

APEGA materials describe Alberta professional practice. Check the actual legislation, regulator requirements, and appointment for another jurisdiction.

Engineers Canada guidelines provide national guidance. They do not replace the requirements of a provincial or territorial regulator.

Codes and applicability

These references concern Canadian construction codes. The model-code example shows why adoption matters. It does not establish which code governs the Northbank case.

For a real applicability exercise, obtain the relevant adoption instrument and its amendments. Match its conditions to the actual facility and assignment.

Project and technical management

APM provides a professional account of project management. NASA supplies a useful account of technical planning, requirements, interfaces, risk, configuration, assessment, and decisions.

Adapt methods to the work and its consequences. NASA's agency processes do not govern an unrelated industrial project.

Prose style

The course prose follows an STE100-like approach. It uses short sentences, active verbs, stable terms, and one action per instruction. Formal dictionary compliance is not claimed.

Use the readings

  1. State the question that the reference must answer.
  2. Open the full source.
  3. Identify the passage and its conditions.
  4. Record the edition or update available when you read it.
  5. Explain what the passage supports.
  6. State what still needs another source or decision.

External readings support further study. The core offline exercises use the supplied Northbank records.
